I met with my landlord and got my new apartment in Le Marais (the 3rd district).
It's about ten minutes from Notre Dame (with stops to look in bakeshop windows) and three metro stops from the Louvre so I couldn't be happier with the location. There are also a ton of restaurants and shops right around both corners.
\The apartment is very cute with a loft bedroom and black wooden beams in the ceiling. The landlord has thought of almost everything except a coffee maker or a teapot but I'll survive.
I've been having fun shopping for food and practicing my pathetic French on unsuspecting clerks. Haven't met a rude Parisian yet.
